happy spring! || life updates and what i’ve been up to

Apr. 20, 2025 / All Things Life

HELLO MY LOVELY FRIENDS! I HAVE RETURNED 😁

it’s been a crazy month or so, but I’m super excited to be back and share what’s been happening in my world recently. There’s a lot, so buckle up and enjoy. (Lots of pictures too!)

  • My parents went to India on a trip with some church friends, so my sister and I were in charge of the house while they were gone. It was a fun couple of weeks, but it was also a lot to balance since we were both still doing school, working, and other activities.
  • The two of us also hid 300 tiny ducks around the house for Mom to find XD it’s been a month, and she’s found less than half of them so far.
  • I got to do lots of fun things with friends: a Galentine’s party, dinner out, walks, sleepovers, and more. Every moment with them is my favorite <3
  • Back in January, I decided that I wanted to run track with the local high school. I spent the eight weeks between then and when the season started training and gradually increasing my mileage. There were a few nice days, but mostly cold and/or snowy. Nothing like the snow for motivation to run faster and get back inside XD
  • Track practices started March 3rd, and I loved it! I liked running with a team and pushing myself for better times. I ran the 800 and 1600, but the 1600 was my favorite.
  • Speaking of the 1600, I set a personal PR for the mile: 6:59. I was hoping for 6:30, but I guess that’s a goal to keep working towards.
  • Unfortunately, I ended up with a stress fracture halfway through the season. I really miss going to practice and running with friends, but having to take some time off has made me realize how much I love running! I’m super excited to get back to it this summer.
  • And just like that, I’m a graduate! I was valedictorian of my class, which wasn’t hard, considering it was only me XD but hey, it counts! It’s crazy how the past twelve years flew by. I’m looking forward to a great summer with friends and family before heading off to college in the fall.
  • I also had to give a speech at graduation. While I was writing it, I saw a quote on Instagram that said, “Imagine you were walking home with your kindergarten self. What would you say to them?” That’s what my speech was: advice/encouragement to all twelve grades in the homeschool co-op. It was so fun to write and everyone enjoyed it.
  • After many weeks of outlining and drafting, I finished another short story! It’s about four girls who go on a road trip before heading off to college. I had several people read and edit the story, and then I submitted it for publication!
  • My church hosts a women’s retreat every year, and this year’s was a blast. Betsy and I had a great time with our friend Kira. We played lots of games, went for a hike, and explored a quarry in the sunshine. It was a lovely weekend with our church friends, and I’m already excited for next year.
  • Back in January I got a gym membership and have really enjoyed my morning gym sessions! My routine was slightly messed up because of my injury, but I’m still going and looking forward to when I can get back to my usual workouts.
  • I did manage to find time to read several books, too. I reread some of my favorites (Ignite by Kara Swanson, the Bailey Flanigan series by Karen Kingsbury, and The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall) and discovered some new favorites too: The Swan House by Elizabeth Musser and Sand Pebbles by Patricia Hickman.
  • Some of my friends from track were in the school musical, so my friend Leah and I went to see their performance one Saturday. They performed Narnia and did a great job. I’d never been to a school musical before, so it was a fun experience!
  • I also spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen! I tried new recipes and made some of my go-tos. Most things turned out, but there were one or two recipes that I made notes on for next time XD
  • And last, but not least, I applied to and was accepted at Rosedale Bible College! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the next couple years and am looking forward to learning a lot, trying new coffee shops, and making new friends.

let’s chat!

how has your spring gone so far? have you finished school for the year? what’s something you’re looking forward to this summer?
